Iggy Pop has told BBC 6Music that The Stooges will tour next year despite the death of original guitarist Ron Asheton in January.
"The band have been rehearsing more without me than with me because I've been doing other things this year," Pop told presenter Shaun Keaveny. "But we have been rehearsing all together more recently...we're going to be doing a one-off show in Brazil in a few weeks but the real touring starts next year."
"We're all very sorry about Ron," he added. "His spirit within the group remains with the rest of us and he is still a presence within the group without being on the physical plain."
It's understood that Raw Power guitarist James Williamson will join the band when they hit the road in 2010.
"If I wanted to play guitar again...I figured, 'What the hell, let's do it!'" Williamson told Rolling Stone earlier this year. "We're rehearsing songs from Raw Power, The Stooges, Fun House and Kill City," he explained. "By the end we sounded pretty great."
Iggy And The Stooges perform Raw Power as part of an All Tomorrow's Parties special event on May 2 and 3, 2010 at London's Hammersmith Apollo. Suicide will also perform their first LP in its entirety.
