Awesome pix of a legendary artist and modern Beaudelaire!.and his beautifull Nymph...can't wait to get another memorable issue of MOJO..I met Gainsbourg around 1968,during the shooting of a scene for the movie"Slogan" in front of the "Drugstore St-Germain",(a "IN" restaurant-shop of Paris's" left bank").He had just met Jane Birkin, and one could tell he was in love..Being a teen,i approached him,and told him:"i like everything you do;it's pretty inspiring"..."Thank you",he said politely, then kinda of shaking his head and smiling,he added, both humbly and sarcastically:"You must not have looked very well, because i've done a lot of crappy stuff too!"and we both laughed...Birkin was amazingly beautifull..A true poet and wild rebel,"Gainsbarre"lives on!!

Hey evening everybody,
I'm Christian and i was born and living in Paris-France since 1956. Here for some peoples Serge Gainsbourg is a very important musician and songwriter. Since 1991 and this death a big empty is always amongh us. Any new man à la tête de choux for the future. For the Englhis people the lyrics is very important in translate, he play always with French tongue.
Myself i see this show in " Casino de Paris " music hall in September 1985 Sunday afternoon with American Musician. Nice and easy show this day.

Morning all good fellows other side from Channel,
Serge Gainsbourg is gone since 20years ago and now he let's the French world Music always orphan. Listen " Melody Nelsson, L'Homme à la Tête de Chou " this is a strange unives and strange words. A good friend of Serge death in 2009 Alain Bashung is nice musician with an strange univers. Only problem the translation in English. The lyrics have double signification.
A nice day,
Christian from Paris.

RE: alain
Hi Alain, you say Jane Birkin was amazingly beautiful.
Personally, I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful woman than Jane Birkin from the late 60s/early 70s!

It's strange how many Americans do not know who Gainsbourg is. He can be comearpd to the Elvis of France, many American artists have been influenced by him. He was truly a musical genius who wrote songs decades ahead of his time. His biopic comes out in January which will make him the new Edith Piaf in terms of American recognition.Just a quick correction on your report..he was never married to Birkin. They were lovers for 13 years...Birkin was superstitious and thought that marriage would change things.

Dear Susan,I can't speak for everybody else, but I for one do not think you are a mean pesron - I don't know you! But if the reason you don't link to your blog is because you experience : 'Whole bunches of rude folks bounce over & want me to put up my dukes' - then maybe you should consider that the way you express yourself in your comments may not be entirely neutral. Otherwise people wouldn't react, would they?I know of Joanna's accomplishments and I think she is so surrounded with people who love her, that I'm sure that she's not bothered by comments like this - but I for one would be sad if people wrote things like that on my blog. That's why I wanted to express my sympathy for her.I don't think: 'You didn't know that Audrey H. had two children? They run her children's foundation, made appearances on her behalf for UNICEF when she was ill. She famously retired during her less-than-happy Roman holiday (though she loved Rome). Wow, I'm so surprised that anyone is surprised'- is a neutral statement! So again, I'm sorry if you felt that I portrayed you as a mean pesron, Susan. Just a reminder for all of us that words can be interpreted very differently from how they were intended when they are not accompanied by a pesron's face, intonation, tone etc...xoCarina
