McCartney Announces UK Summer Shows!

Paul McCartney has announced details of his upcoming UK & Ireland tour, set to kick off at Dublin's RDS on June 12.

Macca will also play massive shows in Glasgow and Cardiff (his first gig in Wales for 31 years), as well as headlining the Isle Of Wight Festival on June 13 and the Hard Rock Calling festival in London's Hyde Park on June 27. McCartney last played on his home turf in December at the O2 Arena.

Speaking ahead of his debut performance at the Isle Of Wight, Macca said: "I always remember hearing such great things about this festival and it has such a sense of history with the likes of Jimi Hendrix playing there the first time round. This will be my first show on the Isle of Wight and I'm looking forward to a rollicking night of rock n' roll".

"It's always brilliant to play for the home crowd," he added, "and these dates are ones that me and the band are really excited about."

McCartney is also set to play three nights at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl at the end of March.

His UK & Ireland 2010 dates look like this:

RDS, Dublin (June 12) Tickets on sale Monday, March 8
Isle Of Wight Festival (13) Tickets on sale now
Hampden Park, Glasgow (20) Tickets on sale Monday, March 8

  • You're right there John. He was going to play in Australia a few years a go but pulled out because ticket sales were not as good as he had hoped and used the Bali bombing as an excuse which a lot of Australians thought was a bit disrespectful (who the hell is he to tell us how we feel and what we want). He hasn't been back since. Lennon described him once as being "all pizza and fairytales" and its not hard to see why.

  • This 'pizza fairytales' quote from when John Lennon had more or less given up on music completely, playing a couple of live shows in total thru the 70s, while Paul was touring everywhere, playing small venues. Paul McCartney getting slagged off is pathetic.
