The Black Keys Ready New Album

12:29 PM GMT 04/03/2010

The Black Keys, those prolific blues hounds from Ohio, will release their sixth album, Brothers, on May 17.

The LP was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sounds - the legendary Alabama studio that's played host to the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones and Wilson Pickett.

"Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album," says drummer Patrick Carney. "Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we're brothers, and I think these songs reflect that." The album is also set to feature a cover of Jerry Butler's Never Gonna Give You Up and a collaboration with production guru Danger Mouse. "We like spooky sounds... like Alice Coltrane, where are dark groove is laid down," added Dan Auerbach. "That's the headspace we tried to get into for this record."

The Black Keys' last album, Attack & Release, was released in 2008. Their rap-rock venture, Blakroc, appeared last year alongside Auerbach's solo LP, Keep It Hid.
