Win Tickets To John Foxx’s Synthfest!

IN 1980 IT SOUNDED like the future. Certainly, John Foxx, the original Ultravox(!) singer, dazzled by JG Ballard and Marcel Duchamp, saw it that way. 30 years on it is, perhaps aptly, the sound of now, as Hot Chip, Fever Ray and the like channel the post-punk heyday of UK synth music.

John Foxx celebrates the world catching up with his dystopian visions with a fascinating bill at the Roundhouse on Saturday June 5, part of the Camden venue's Short Circuit 2010 programme. Foxx will perform songs from his catalogue, sharing the stage with an all-analogue synth orchestra, four keyboard players and, quote, "loads of dry ice".

Atop a packed programme of electro fun, Foxx is joined by Systems Of Romance-era Ultravox guitarist Robin Simon, and is supported by DJ sets from Gary Numan among others, a contribution by London Orbital author Iain Sinclair, and a multimedia collaboration between Foxx, musician Steve D'Agostino and film-maker Alex Proyas (The Crow, I, Robot).

For a chance of winning a pair of tickets to this festival of futurestuff, pick the correct answer to the following question...

Foxx's replacement in Ultravox was...

a) Steve Strange
b) Midge Ure
c) Metal Mickey
