THE LAST WEEKEND in July is the perennial prompt for MOJO to up sticks to the fens for the Cambridge Folk Festival. This year, Kris Kristofferson, Seasick Steve and Natalie Merchant headline, and Steve submits to what he's calling his "last interview ever" (or perhaps, at the very least, for a very long time) live onstage with a top MOJO writer.
The festival reels and rocks the grounds of Cherry Hinton Hall between Thursday, July 29 and Sunday, August 1. Steve regales the traditionally erudite and appreciative audience with episodes from his colourful career at midday on Friday, July 30.
The festival provides the usual showcase for trad-rooted acts with a multiplicity of takes on the four-letter-word beginning with "f". Top, MOJO-endorsed turns include Seth Lakeman, The Unthanks, Julie Fowlis, Harper Simon and Rokia Traoré. Today's additions to the bill are fiddly indie veterans The Wonder Stuff and mento legends The Jolly Boys. For more information, visit their web site at www.cambridgefolkfestival.co.uk.
A pair of weekend tickets (with camping) is up for grabs exclusively here at MOJO4music.com. Answer the following question to be in the hat. Competition closes on Monday, July 5.
Seasick Steve's given name is...
a) Steven Gene Wold
b) Stephen Seasick
