"I'm a real woman - just like Catherine Deneuve," declared Iggy Pop, once. Whatever you say, Iggy. Without him the history of rock and roll transgression and performance would have been a far duller affair, but which of the albums by this mighty, still-sustaining presence do you need to hear, an inconceivable 43 years on from the first time he put his uniquely deranged exuberance to wax? The Stooges' early classics? Very likely. Kill City? Early solo triumphs The Idiot and Lust For Life? Blah Blah Blah from '86, or American Caesar from '93? How about this year's predominantly French covers album Après?
Please let us have your recommendations and, as ever, the best comments will appear in the next issue of MOJO. Thank you!
