This year's shortlist consists of the sultry kitchen sink dramas of Duffy, the angular inventive neo-post-punk of Foals, the mellifluous throwback folk-blues of Pete Molinari, the cinematic twang'n'croon of The Last Shadow Puppets, and the suddenly-happening, melancholy slowcore of Bon Iver.
