Mojo - The Music Magazine

The MOJO Honours List 2007

The theme was: Tattoos

“Ozzy, your hair smells lovely tonight.” It was an unlikely enough outburst, but doubly unlikely coming from its source: wayward sailor’s sweetheart Amy Winehouse. Make that triply unlikely given that Winehouse’s appearance at the fourth annual MOJO Honours List had hung in the balance all day, with minute-by-minute updates from MojoCabs detailing the drowsy diva’s non-progress from her Camden eyrie. It was a brave, but ultimately vain attempt to upstage the Honours List’s most stellar line-up yet. The Stooges! The Doors! Ike Turner! Paul Simonon! Björk! Suicide! Slade! Alice Cooper! They all braved the notorious Curse Of The MOJO Honours List and came through unscathed (apart from Ike Turner). Venerable Afrobeat legend Tony Allen was particularly chuffed, since a scratch card that had fallen out of the previous issue of the magazine had won him a digital camera. Who said music magazines never give anything back?
