FOLLOWING THE BIG-BAND free-jazz Tilt-A-Whirl delights of Sue (In A Season Of Crime) David Bowie has unveiled another brand-new track ahead of his 3CD best-of collection, Nothing Has Changed. Entitled ’Tis A Pity She Was A Whore (and doubtless named in tribute to the 1629 tragedy by Jacobean playwright John Ford) it is a raucous five-minute mesh of melody and discord, an art-rock anti-war romance, gasping under the pack-ice of no-wave sax-squawk, of which the man himself says, “If Vorticists wrote Rock Music it might have sounded like this.”

Recorded, played and written by David Bowie in his home studio, ’Tis A Pity She Was A Whore (accompanied here by a fan video comprising nothing but Iraq war drone attacks) features on the limited edition 10-inch single and digital bundle of Sue (In A Season Of Crime) and suggests that the next album proper from the reborn Dame will be a far more lawless and brawny affair than 2013’s The Next Day.

In other Bowie news, a new portrait of the singer has been released along with stills from the video for Sue (In A Season Of Crime) - you can see both in MOJO's gallery, plus the finished video below.
