THIS SATURDAY IS like Christmas Day for most independent record shops – albeit a Christmas when you get up really early and work extra hard – as Record Store Day returns for 2015. The annual celebrations of the world’s best music emporia on April 18 is set to see shops across the country staging in-stores and other events, while of course selling those ever-so-rare Record Store Day exclusives.
With over 550 special releases for sale, including 7-inches from David Bowie and Courtney Barnett’s debut album retooled on orange double-vinyl, the MOJO team have been in vinyl heaven poring over this year's list of releases, and distilling them down to a Top 10.
Have a good Record Store Day 2015, but remember your favourite indie record shops are there for the other 364 days of the year too… For more visit www.recordstoreday.co.uk.
And don’t forget to check out MOJO's own contribution to the vinyl landslide: Physical Graffiti Redrawn, a full track-by-track cover of Led Zeppelin’s landmark 1975 album by top contemporary artists, presented on luscious vinyl and in a die-cut sleeve. See it unboxed here...
