St James Quarter Sessions Is Back In Edinburgh Next Month

Free music festival in the heart of Edinburgh set to return this August.

The highly anticipated St James Quarter Sessions return to Edinburgh this August for a third year. This free music festival in the heart of the city, showcases a diverse range of musical performances. With such a vast number of artists on the bill there’s music to suit every taste.

St James Quarter Sessions 2025 will run from Friday 15th August to Sunday 24th August. And this year’s festival promises to take the city by storm.

There will be performances across the Galleria, and you can also expect intimate gigs in venues throughout St James Quarter including The Botanist, The Alchemist, W Edinburgh, Everyman and Gordon Ramsay Street Burger. Back for 2025 is the Level 6 iconic 'Castle View' rooftop stage with views across Edinburgh to the castle, Arthur’s Seat and Calton Hill.

With pop-up live acoustic sets to full band performances, this year’s programme features an eclectic mix of music from across a wide range of genres including jazz, rock, R&B, hip hop, indie, electronica, folk and more.

The 2025 line-up is not to be missed. Headline acts include The Brand New Heavies, Bemz and Cortney Dixon, with more yet to be confirmed. Other artists performing include Dictator, Queen of Harps, Low Tide, Dictator, Tamzene, James Emmanuelle and The Laurettes.

Alongside bringing in more established names from across the UK, the festival has become famous for embracing local talent and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming musicians. Once again, a series of pop-up busking performances will take place. Running throughout August, musicians can apply for a paid performance slot with applications now open.
