On the day her new album Virgin landed on streaming services, Lorde made a surprise appearance at Glastonbury, opening this year’s festival with a secret set at Woodsies, formerly the John Peel Stage.
Speculation has been mounting all week about whether the singer would be filling one of the several ‘TBA’ slots on this year’s bill. She told Radio 1 she was “pretty keen” to appear at the festival this year, and earlier today the singer posted an aerial shot of the Woodsies big top.

The remaining ‘to be announced’ sets are still under wraps, with appearances from Pulp, Haim, Lewis Capaldi, Paramore, and even Timothée Chalamet, playing a set of Bob Dylan songs, à la A Complete Unknown, being among the rumours.
Woodsies had to be shutdown due to the huge number of fans swarming to catch Lorde after word got out that she would be the weekend's first surprise performer. With Virgin released earlier in the morning, Lorde performed the album in full, ending on 2013's Ribs and Green Light from 2017.
