A new Beach Boys special featuring band members Mike Love and Bruce Johnson in conversation with Richard Allison airs this Sunday on Greatest Hits Radio at 4pm (GMT)

In When Richard Allinson Met The Beach Boys, Love looks back on the earliest days of the group singing in the Wilson family home in Hawthorne, California, and the pair discuss Brian Wilson’s decision to quit touring to focus on the creation of the group’s 1966 masterpiece Pet Sounds, the off-the-cuff making of The Beach Boys’ Party! and joining The Beatles in Rishikesh, India, in 1968.

"George Harrison and I both had our birthdays when we were in India," recalls Love, "We're both Pisces and here was a rapport there."

"As a band they are in their seventh decade and it’s incredible that the Beach Boys are still bringing the good times to music fans around the world," says Allison. "It was an honour to meet them and hear their stories on the hallowed turf that is Abbey Road Studios."

When Richard Allinson Met The Beach Boys airs on Greatest Hits Radio at 4pm on Sunday May 26.
