Raye

The Pyramid Stage, Saturday June 28, 2025

“This is amazing being here,” beams Raye from the Pyramid Stage. “I really hope I don’t have to pee.”  Never let it be said that Rachel Keen ever knowingly undershares. Like her deeply personal, often tragic but always moving lyrics, Raye’s heart lives on her sleeve (if her 60s-inspired black sequinned dress had sleeves), never more so than on the tear-stained Ice Cream Man, a song about sexual assault that shouldn’t even need to be written, let alone aired, but unfortunately we still live in a world of toxic male entitlement.

After the tears and sorrow, however, Ray’s light shines full beam, a soulful big band extravaganza somewhere between a Supremes night club show and the most empowering hen party on earth. You wouldn’t want to miss it, even if nature was calling.
