MODSTOCK, THE EASTER WEEKEND festival celebrating 50 years since Mod’s 1964 watershed, has confirmed details of its British legends revue. Small Faces’ Kenney Jones will join the bill on Saturday, April 19, and will perform with the core band of highly-rated British groovers Stone Foundation. They will also be joined by The Creation’s guitarist Eddie Phillips. A number of other very special guests are also expected on the night.
Jones’ appearance coincides with the recently released Small Faces compilation, Greatest Hits: The Immediate Years 1967-1969 which has just been issued on Charly Records marking the reactivation of the Immediate back catalogue. Jones himself will also be on-hand on the night to sign copies of this remastered collection.
Also added to the Modstock bill on Thursday, April 17, are ’70s Mod revival heroes Squire whose classic 1979 track proudly declared It’s A Mod Mod World.
The bill for Modstock now reads as follows:
Thursday, April 17: Secret Affair, The Apemen and Squire. Friday, April 18: The Motown Revue with Brenda Holloway and The Velvelettes (the original line-up). Saturday, April 19: The British legends revue with Kenney Jones, Eddie Phillips, Stone Foundation and special guests. Sunday, April 20: Les Cappucino and The Mergers.
Modstock takes place at The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street, London W1 and will celebrate Mod culture in its wider sense by featuring additional elements including a fashion show, a record fair, an indoor market, a scooter run and a riverboat party.
